HOLOEYE realised quite early that optical microstructures and the controlled manipulation of light will play an increasingly important role in many future aspects of industrial development and research. Since its foundation in Berlin 1999, HOLOEYE has been researching, developing and producing Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE) and Spatial Light Modulators (SLM). HOLOEYE developed the first real "Plug-and-Play" Liquid Crystal device that can be directly plugged to a personal computer to enable active spatial light modulation.

Nowadays strong cooperations with several microdisplay manufacturers enable HOLOEYE to offer Liquid Crystal microdisplay components as OEM-solution in higher quantities.

From the very beginning our goal has been to build strong customer relations and share our intellectual know-how with industry by providing our services and products at reasonable cost. Pioneer work in conjunction with reputable industrial and scientific research institutes across the world has established us as an innovative technology leader , and more important, a qualified partner for optical technology development. HOLOEYE is fortunate to have formed strong strategic partnerships with both the Coherence Optics Labs of Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany and the Institute of Technical Optics of University of Stuttgart, Germany. Both organizations perform critical research which centers around computer-controlled optical microstructures.
