The HEO 1080 P Phase Only Spatial Light Modulator is based on a reflective LCOS microdisplay with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Due to the ECB (Electrically Controlled Birefringence) LC mode, these special phase-modulation-microdisplays provide a phase shift above 2 π up to 1550 nm.

Applications range from holography, lithography, optical metrology, interferometry, optical tweezers, wave front corrections to phase shifting applications. The high fill factor of the display also ensures a high light efficiency.

With a pixel pitch of only 8.0 µm, HDTV resolution, a high light efficiency (due to the reflective structure of the micro display) and an image refresh frame rate of 60 HZ via DVI, the HEO 1080 P phase only modulator is the right solution for a wide range of applications. Currently there are three panel versions available:

• Optimized for 2π phase shift in the visible range up to 800 nm with a broadband AR coating
  
  
• Optimized for the near IR region showing a 2π phase shift up to 1064 nm with an AR coating for 1064 nm.
  
  
• Optimized for common telecommunication wavelengths - 2π phase shift up to 1550 nm.

All optical phase functions (gratings, phase masks, holograms, etc.) are addressed by a DVI graphics card, which can be implemented in a standard PC using the SLM device simply as an “external monitor”. A GUI (graphical user interface) enables the user to adapt the modulation performance to an actual task and laser wave length.

The tailored Spatial Light Modulator application software allows the simple generation of diverse dynamic optical functions like gratings, lenses, axicons and apertures as well as the calculation of diffractive optical elements (DOE) from user defined images.
